Fox-Reutlinger family papers, ca. 1882-1990 (bulk 1882-1926).

This collection contains personal and business letters written by and to Fontaine Fox. Also included are several theses and essays written by Fox related to religion and government, including his defense of Genesis and his essay on Alexander Hamilton and John Marshall. The collection also contains a biography of Fox written by his daughter Frances. Other documents in this collection include an autobiography written by James Hopkins, a bank cashier, and recollections of World War II written by Albert Reutlinger, a grandson of Fontaine Fox.

John Marshall (1755-1835) was born near Germantown, Prince William (currently Fauquier) County, Virginia on 24 September 1755 to parents Thomas Marshall and Mary Randolph Keith.
